FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What age do classes start from?
Our Tiny dance classes start from 2.5 years old and fully potty trained. However, children come into class independently without their grown up. We understand all children are nervous and work with them to build confidence.

Where and when do classes take place?
Please check out our timetable where you will find details on all the classes we offer. All our classes are taken at our studios in Crewe.

Can my child just take one class, or do they need to do everything?
Yes, we have lots of single-class options such as Ballet, Tap & Modern, Musical Theatre, Commercial/street and Acro, however ballet or modern need to be taken to attend Acro. A discount is available for students who take our core combination classes.
Different genres of dance complement each other in varying ways, and students that take multiple classes will benefit and develop with the additional tuition and all-round dance education.

Do students take exams?
Yes! We are members of International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA), one of the world’s largest examination boards. Using their Ballet, Tap, Contemporary Modern syllabus, we train students to enter examinations. Students can gain OFQUAL-recognised qualifications and earn credits and UCAS points as they climb to higher grades.
We believe that examinations create a standard within our school, and we are very proud of our 100% pass rate. We take pride in caring for our industry by contributing to the performing arts pathway of young people through graded examinations. One of our core values is Confidence, and the teaching team will spend a lot of class time ensuring students are prepared, motivated and confident to be the best they can be. Classes at FTA start with enjoyment and turn into a passion. This is where students then progress and succeed.

Do you do a show?
Every year we take the FTA dancers to the Mitchell Arts Centre for our annual production. This is the highlight of our year. It takes such an incredible amount of work, but goodness me it is so worth it!

Do classes run all year round?
No. Our classes run term-time only in accordance with the Cheshire East calendar. We therefore run and charge for 38-39 weeks of the year but divide this cost into 11 equal monthly payments.
We also run a Summer School of Performing Arts during the summer holidays and run additional events during the school holidays such as guest workshops, school trips, private lessons.

What does my child need to wear?
For the first 4weeks of classes, please just dress in activewear such as leggings, jogging bottoms, cycling shorts, t-shirts & trainers or bare feet. Please no denim, skirts or dresses.
We have a required uniform at FTA.
We believe in getting dressed for success, and turning up in the required uniform not only contributes to a positive attitude towards learning, but it keeps students safe. We really do like our dancers to attend class well-groomed, and we would love for their hair to be in a classical ballet bun for ballet, a neat slick plait/French plaits for Acro and all other classes a neat slick ponytail. Well dressed and neatly groomed students will be acknowledged and rewarded. Please avoid wearing watches, jewellery or long acrylic nails.
